Part of the WMNF's larger scale Wanosha Project, the Smarts Brook mountain bike trails are a system of user-created trails that the WMNF would like to expand to create a sustainable, inclusive network for multiple riding levels.
This project is part of the WMNF larger-scale Wanosha Project. Smarts Brook mountain bike trails are a system of user-created trails, a vast majority of which were developed prior to the 2005 Forest Plan.
Approximately 7 miles of trail will be restored to sustainable terrain and to ensure the projection of the land resource. Just under 2 miles of new trail will be built to allow for a wider range of skill levels to experience using the trails.
Project Cost is $175K
Background & History
The WMNF would like to work with partners to ensure the Smarts Brook trail system provides high-quality mountain bike opportunities for a wide range of trail visitors. They hope Smarts Brook offers a chance for residents and visitors to engage positively with the outdoor environment, while minimizing resource impacts.
