Conservation Corps Crew Members

Job Description

WMTC is seeking Conservation Corps Crew Members to conduct trail maintenance at locations in the White Mountain National Forest. Successful candidates receive a weekly stipend plus hands-on education and conservation and/or field experience. Members must be willing to meet the mental and physical challenges of working in the outdoors by demonstrating maturity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic. A commitment to the environment and to their local communities is essential.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work alongside 4-5 other crew members while completing priority conservation projects
  • Participate and engage in the WMTC’s maintenance training program
  • Respond to and work with leadership team in a respectful and productive manner
  • Promote a safe work environment for fellow crew members and the public
  • Maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn more about conservation and natural resource management

Qualifications

Candidates should possess, at a minimum, the following:

  • Interest in developing skills and experience in natural resource conservation and management
  • Commitment to protecting and improving the quality of the environment for human and natural communities
  • The ability to work responsibly and cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Experience in conservation, trail work a plus
  • Capable of performing strenuous physical labor such as carrying 40+ pounds, including tools associated with duties (e.g. shovel, saw, etc.), over rough terrain
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old by June 28, 2021 (AmeriCorps Req’ment)
  • Must meet the Corporation for National Community Service’s minimum requirements:
    • Must clear all required National Service Criminal History Checks
    • Must be a US citizen, US national, or legal permanent resident of the US
    • Must be high school graduates, GED recipients, or must be working toward attaining a
      high school diploma or GED during their term of service

Commitment

Season Dates: May 20, 2021 - October 24, 2021

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week. This is open to change.

Compensation

Benefits for LRCC Members:

  • $422 biweekly stipend (before taxes)
